Social Network for Affordable Health Care Supporters Stimulates a New Level of Interactivity and Dialogue

families and businesses.

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- While politicians dispense their health care ideas at party conventions and local rallies, American citizens are invited to do the same online. The common place to do so is at AffordableHealthInsurance.NET -- a new social network that encourages people to exchange their opinions, ideas and solutions for the troubled U.S. health care industry.

The site, which is free to join, is essentially an online community for health care practitioners, doctors, politicians, families, and individuals who all have one thing in common: They all support the idea of affordable health insurance for everyone.

The functionality of the web site is very similar to that of Facebook or LinkedIn. Users can view each others' pictures and profiles, interact with each other, blog, read news, watch videos, join groups, and more.

Establishing affordable health insurance for American families and businesses is a topic that is frequently discussed in the media, and often debated by politicians and critics. In 2007, filmmaker and activist Michael Moore sparked a national controversy when his documentary "Sicko" compared the highly profitable American health care industry to other nations such as Canada -- who offer universal health care for free.

Currently, about 47 million people in the United States are without health insurance. According to a 2007 CBS poll, among the ones that do have coverage -- only 25% are very satisfied with what they pay for health care, while 52% are dissatisfied, and 23% are very dissatisfied.
