Growing Food Company Recognized for Outstanding Sales Achievement

PARAMUS, N.J., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Smart Balance Inc., maker of Smart Balance(R) and Earth Balance(R) heart healthy food products and other established brands, has been named winner of the Most Valuable Product Award (MVP) by Refrigerated & Frozen Foods Retailer magazine. The prestigious title of MVP is awarded annually to the refrigerated and frozen food supplier with the largest percentage gain in dollars and units.

The 2008 All Star Team Product Awards winners were revealed to the industry in Refrigerated & Frozen Foods Retailer's January/February issue, with Smart Balance(R) taking home top honors. All awards are based on IRI 52- week data ending October 2007 and recognize suppliers who have experienced considerable growth over the past year.

"Each year, Refrigerated & Frozen Foods Retailer pays tribute to growth- oriented companies and products through our All Star Team Product Awards," said Steven Lichtenstein, publisher of the industry-leading journal. "This year, Smart Balance captured the MVP Award - the highest award provided - for posting the greatest sales gains within the category. Their MVP Award is a reflection of the growing popularity of Smart Balance among today's consumers who are searching for food products that fit their healthy lifestyles."

"Smart Balance food products achieve the optimal balance of great taste and healthy ingredients," said Stephen B. Hughes, Smart Balance chairman and CEO. "Our customers are passionate about the brand and recognize and appreciate the benefits of incorporating Smart Balance products in their daily diet."
