Date:1/22/2013

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) January 22, 2013

The product liability attorneys at Wright & Schulte, LLC have filed a Skechers Shape-Ups' lawsuit on behalf of a woman from Springfield, Ohio. Court documents allege that she wore Skechers Shape-Ups for about three months, which resulted in her sustaining a painful tear in her Achilles tendon. The plaintiff's severe ankle injury required her to undergo one year of physical therapy, take steroids and ultimately have to undergo surgery for her alleged Skechers injuries. This Skechers Injury Lawsuit (Case No. 3:12-cv-00837-TBR), which was filed on December 15, 2012, names the defendants to be Skechers, U.S.A., Inc., Skechers, U.S.A., Inc., II and Skechers Fitness Group, all based in Manhattan Beach, California. As with previous Wright & Schulte Skechers lawsuits, this case has been filed in the U.S. District Court of the Western District of Kentucky, Louisville Division (MDL 2308).

According to documents filed with the Kentucky District Court, the plaintiff purchased Skechers Shape-Ups in 2010. Soon thereafter, the plaintiff allegedly began wearing these toning shoes on a day-to-day basis she started to feel extreme pain in her left ankle, she consulted her doctor who advised the plaintiff' that she had a tear in her left Achilles tendon. After one year of physical therapy and steroid treatments, the plaintiff was informed that she would have to under go surgery for her alleged Skechers toning shoes injuries.

As part of the documents filed with the court, allegations against Skechers charge that the alleged defective design of the rocker-bottom design of Skechers Shape-Ups caused the plaintiff's injuries. They accuse the manufacturers of failing to perform any safety testing after the public had suffered from Skechers injuries and that the Skechers corporations never warned the consumers about the risks associated with Skechers toning shoes injuries. Evidence Skechers lawsuit documents point out include reports filed with the Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CPSC) database. The CPSC database has more reports of injuries associated with Skechers toning shoes than it has with any other product in its database (as of May 2011).
