Shaft Medical San Diego Now Offers Viridis Derma KTP Laser to Permanently Remove Unwanted Spider Veins
Date:12/17/2012

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) December 17, 2012

Shaft Medical San Diego, the area’s leading aesthetic medicine practice providing the full range of advanced cosmetic procedures, now offers Viridis Derma KTP, the most current FDA-approved laser technology, for the treatment of spider veins and vascular lesions.

Viridis Derma KTP spider vein laser is designed to effectively treat vascular conditions such as telangiectasia, also known as "spider veins" or "small blue veins."

Millions of women and men are bothered by unsightly spider veins on their faces and legs. Spider veins, or telangiectasia, are those small red, blue and purple blood vessels that appear most frequently on the face and legs.

Spider veins that appear on the face or legs and can be either congenital or appear as part of the aging process.

The Viridis Derma KTP laser San Diego and La Jolla is a revolutionary laser treatment for these vascular conditions. The device uses Multipulse technology which consists of precisely calibrated pulses with decreasing energy and a pulse width that is close to the thermal relaxation time of the blood vessels being treated. The laser's light technology targets the pigment in the blood, heats and destroys vessel walls by sealing them off and ensures destruction of the vessels without damaging the epidermis and surrounding tissue. Over a period of four to six weeks, the vein is usually reabsorbed by the body and disappears.

Improvement is gradual and optimal results can take up to eight weeks or more. Anesthesia is not required, but patients may feel a slight hot and tingling sensation during the treatment. The risks and side effects associated with laser vein therapy are generally minimal, although redness and minor inflammation may persist for a few hours. These symptoms generally disappear over the next 2-3 days. Some patients may experience dark spots for a month or more.

Laser treatment is a typically a safe and effective option for the treatment of spider veins. It does not involve any injection and takes a few minutes. Patients are encouraged to resume all normal activities immediately. There is no prior preparation required before laser therapy other than to avoid direct sun exposure to the areas to be treated. The procedure usually takes less than 10-20 minutes.

During the treatment, the patient will feel a slight tingling sensation as the laser fires. If the individual is normally sensitive to any pain, a topical local anesthetic may be applied 20 minutes before the procedure.

The majority of the treated spider veins will disappear with 2-3 treatment sessions. The treatments can be spaced four to six weeks apart. If new veins appear, additional treatments are required for optimum results. The treatments may be spaced every three to four week intervals. Final results may not be apparent for several months. Most patients are satisfied by the results.

Viridis Derma KTP with Multipulse is also used to effectively treat port-wine stains, and rosacea as well as many types of pigmented lesions.
