Several Korein Tillery Lawyers Nominated as Finalists for the Public Justice “Trial Lawyer of the Year” Award
Date:8/3/2013

(PRWEB) August 03, 2013

Several lawyers from the Korein Tillery firm were selected by Public Justice, the preeminent public interest law firm in the United States, as finalists for Trial Lawyer of the Year. Among those nominated were, Stephen Tillery, Christie Deaton, Rosemarie Fiorillo, Nichole Graham, John Craig, Michael Klenov, John Libra and George Zelcs. Dedicated to the belief that power unchecked is power abused, and striving to preserve everyone’s right to a day in court, Public Justice recognizes attorneys and firms that make important contributions to advance those principles. In accepting the nomination, Mr. Tillery said, “For many in our country, public justice is an ideal that too often goes unrealized. We have to ensure that powerful interests never trump the common good.”

The case under consideration for this year’s award was Greenville v. Syngenta. (City of Greenville v. Syngenta Crop Protection, Inc., Case No.: 3:10-cv-00188-JPG-PMF) Korein Tillery represented hundreds of community water providers across the country whose drinking water was contaminated by atrazine, the most widely used weed killer on corn crops. After many years of litigation, including a review of more than 10 million pages of documents, Korein Tillery was able to negotiate a settlement to help remove atrazine from drinking water sources for nearly 37 million people. An attorney for one of the water providers said, “What this means to our community and the hundreds of other communities across the country cannot be overstated. The Korein Tillery firm made this possible through their tireless effort and dedication.”

Korein Tillery attorneys have successfully litigated hundreds of cases including securities, ERISA, environmental contamination and consumer fraud litigation. One of those cases, the landmark $10.1 billion Price v. Philip Morris judgment (Price v. Philip Morris Inc., Circuit Court of Madison County, Illinois, 00-L-11
