Sentinelle Medical Inc. Introduces Aegis(TM) Web Powered By Calgary Scientific's PureWeb Technology
Date:11/25/2009

TORONTO and CALGARY, Nov. 25 /PRNewswire/ - Sentinelle Medical Inc., a leading manufacturer of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) coils and software and Calgary Scientific Inc., a leading provider of software enabling technologies, have introduced a web version of Aegis(TM) Breast 4D Advanced Visualization software.

This innovative interface is the first truly zero-footprint Web client based medical imaging offering in the market. Calgary Scientific's PureWeb(TM) platform allows for zero-footprint access - requiring no software download, and runs on any Macintosh, Windows or Linux computer. Patient data is not downloaded, reducing patient data confidentiality concerns.

Radiologists are now able to leverage the power of Aegis from any web-enabled computer on the hospital's intranet, optimizing clinical workflow. With this fully functional technology, the extensive features of Aegis's powerful 4D imaging platform are now available over the internet.

The centralized deployment and administration permits easier access for multi-site organizations and helps in communicating reports with referring physicians.

"Sentinelle's products are built with dedication to advancing breast cancer detection, intervention and management through imaging. Aegis Breast and other Aegis applications are core components of the overall imaging solution enabling greater confidence in diagnosis and accuracy in intervention," said Cameron Piron, Sentinelle's President and CEO. "Sentinelle believes that in order to develop 'best-in-class' solutions, there is a need to leverage market-leading, enabling technologies with organizations such as Calgary Scientific."

"Sentinelle's Aegis Breast application is industry-leading and making it accessible from anywhere inside or outside the hospital with Calgary Scientific's PureWeb platform is allowing radiologists to work in ways that make sense for them," says Byron Osing, CEO and Chair of Calgary Scientific. "There is a desire in the medical industry to have greater accessibility through zero-footprint offerings and Calgary Scientific continues to be the only company delivering just that."
