CHICAGO, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Demonstrating its commitment to growth and innovation, Senior Lifestyle Corporation, a leading developer, manager and owner of seniors housing communities nationwide, has appointed John Cobb to president and chief executive officer. His position includes the day-to-day management and strategic direction of the company and its portfolio of more than 70 properties.
Former CEO William B. Kaplan -- who founded the company more than 20 years ago -- will continue as chairman and will work with Cobb to focus on growth initiatives and strategic planning.

Prior to joining Senior Lifestyle, Cobb spent 10 years at GE Healthcare Financial Services in positions of increasing responsibility. During his recent tenure as senior managing director of the Real Estate Finance division, the company's portfolio grew from $1.5 billion to more than $9 billion. Cobb oversaw the division's five sales teams: medical properties, skilled nursing, real estate brokers, real estate equity and seniors housing. Prior to this role, Cobb was managing director of long-term care, responsible for all real estate-related lending for the long-term care sector.
Cobb, 36, holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Lehigh University.
