Sciton Introduces ProFractional-XC(TM), High-Speed, Dual-Mode Fractional Laser
Date:5/21/2008

PALO ALTO, Calif., May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Sciton Inc., a manufacturer of laser and light-based skin sculpting and less-invasive aesthetic solutions, has announced the introduction of an additional fractional device, the ProFractional-XC. The ProFractional-XC offers two new features -- significantly higher speed, and user-controlled, variable-depth thermal coagulation -- in addition to great patient results and excellent practice economics.

Up to four times faster than competitive instruments, ProFractional-XC allows greater patient throughput, which eventually leads to significant revenue increase for aesthetic practices. An early user of the ProFractional-XC, Dr. Michael Kaminer, a Board Certified Dermatologist in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, states, "ProFractional-XC is very fast and easy to use, which makes it a procedure that physicians can easily fit into their busy schedules. The results are fantastic, and the versatility of the device is quite impressive." There are no consumables or disposable tips used by ProFractional-XC, and unlimited pulses are available during the warranty period, resulting in excellent economic profile and no cost-per-use revenue impact.

Like the original ProFractional(TM), released by Sciton in early 2007, the ProFractional-XC allows physicians to match the desired result with the desired amount of downtime through control of the depth and density of the treatment. For the first time ProFractional-XC technology allows the independent selection of ablation and thermal coagulation. With ProFractional-XC physicians can precisely control thermal injury and post-treatment inflammation, something not possible with early fractional devices. With other technologies, the degree of thermal damage cannot be adjusted and is dependent only upon the type of laser chosen.

Dr. Jason Pozner, a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in Boca Raton, Florida comments, "ProFractional-XC gives the physician the option to use or not to use coagulation, depending on the degree of skin damage -- something not possible with other fractional lasers."

ProFractional-XC extends the ProFractional product line toward busy, experienced users who are comfortable with resurfacing procedures. For newcomers to fractional resurfacing, ProFractional will remain the option of choice. Both products are available on the same platform and can be easily combined with other technologies. "There is nothing you can't do with this system!" says Dr. Pozner.

Daniel Negus PhD., Sciton's President, stated, "Our philosophy is to make new modules compatible with existing Sciton platforms -- the ProFractional-XC will thus be available to current Profile customers as a simple upgrade."

Sciton is committed to providing exceptional outcomes to the patients of our customers. ProFractional(TM), MicroLaserPeel(TM), South Bay Peel(TM), and Arctic Peel(TM) provide facial rejuvenation. Other modules offer hair removal, photo rejuvenation, laser-assisted lipolysis, wrinkle reduction, scar revision and acne treatments.
