Support of local communities in the Silicon Valley

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Satellite Healthcare, one of the nation's first and leading providers of kidney dialysis services and a major sponsor of nephrology research, today announced their participation at the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) walk in San Jose, the capital of Silicon Valley. The community event will be held Saturday, June 6 at Cityview Plaza on South Market Street. Satellite Healthcare's commitment to kidney health will be represented by several staff assisting with health screenings and staff and family participating in the 5K walk. Satellite Healthcare supports the importance of the NKF's education and awareness building to the public about kidney disease.

"Each year we support the walk and so many of our employees are excited to participate. It's a small way to make a difference and support those we serve," says Linda McCann, senior director of quality for Satellite Healthcare and recent NKF Champion of Hope lifetime achievement honoree. "This year we also encourage patients to participate more fully by volunteering to push wheelchairs or buddy up with someone. The event is always fun and if we can give our patients a chance to get out in the fresh air and enjoy the camaraderie, it's an added bonus for all of us."

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects more than 26 million Americans, with another 20 million having risk factors for developing the disease. Satellite Healthcare is an innovative organization that puts patient wellness and kidney education at the heart of treating CKD, presenting patients with all the prevention and treatment options available to them. With headquarters in Cityview Plaza in Downtown San Jose, Heritage Bank of Commerce is also a community sponsor of the walk and enjoys giving time and treasure to this worthy cause. "The services the NKF and Satellite Healthcare provide are greatly needed. Herit
