Santa Rosa Boot Camp Owners Challenge Sonoma County to Get Fit for a Cause
Date:5/7/2013

Santa Rosa, CA (PRWEB) May 07, 2013

Santa Rosa boot camp owners Katie Switzer and Dallas Wicker have a vision to transform Sonoma County into a healthy, fit community and they think they’ve found a great way to do it via their fitness boot camp business.

“America is becoming one of the fattest nations in the world,” says Fit Body Boot Camp Santa Rosa co-owner, Katie Switzer. “More than one-quarter of all American adults were obese in 2011 and that number is quickly rising. Childhood obesity is at 20%.”

Katie’s partner, Dallas Wicker, adds, “Far too many Americans make unhealthy eating choices, don’t exercise and watch more than fifteen hours of television per week. Yet they still feel they don’t have time to work out.”

Katie and Dallas are among many health professionals who are alarmed by the rising numbers of people with heart disease, stroke, Type 2 diabetes and other preventable diseases.

“So many of these conditions are completely preventable through exercise and healthy eating,” Katie explains. “It’s so upsetting to see so many people who are struggling with these issues when they could have been avoided. But many of these people can still turn things around by changing their lifestyles.”

Katie and Dallas understand that those lifestyle changes are easier said than done and that busy schedules, heavy workloads and family responsibilities can make it seem like there’s no time to create a healthier life. But, they think they’ve found a way to do something about that and to help the American Heart Association at the same time. They call this innovative idea the Santa Rosa 1,000-Pound Meltdown Challenge.

Launching on June 1st, the 1,000-Pound Meltdown Challenge is Santa Rosa Fit Body Boot Camp’s way to encourage local neighbors to come in for 30 consecutive days of fitness boot camp, nutritional guidance and fun, all for a $20 donation to the American Heart Association.

The 1,000-Pound Meltdown Challenge is open to all local residents (who have not participated in any Fit Body Boot Camp Program in the last 90 days) and who make a $20 donation to the AHA. 100% of the proceeds will be going to The American Heart Association. These donations align with the Fit Body Boot Camp’s Global Goal to engage 20% of the world’s population to a healthy and fit lifestyle by 2020.

“With their donations, everyone who participates will get thirty consecutive days of fitness training sessions,” says Dallas, “along with nutrition counseling, a meal plan, shopping guide and before and after photos.”

Dallas says that people at all levels of fitness are welcome and that no one should be hesitant or embarrassed about their fitness goals, know-how, their size or their age.

“We have clients from 18 to 80 here,” he says. “This is an incredibly supportive, fun and caring environment where everyone is valued and welcomed.”

Katie adds that all of her Santa Rosa personal training participants will be given a free fitness evaluation before they begin training. Sessions are held throughout the day and evening, Monday through Saturday, at Fit Body Boot Camp Santa Rosa, which is located 526 7th Street in Santa Rosa.
