San Francisco Bay Area Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Funds Over $1.6 Million This Year to Community Outreac...( SAN FRANCISCO July ...),Health

SAN FRANCISCO, July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The San Francisco Bay Area Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, one of over 100 Affiliates nationwide dedicated to putting an end to breast cancer, recently provided community grants totaling over $1.6 million dollars to support Bay Area breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs.

The Komen San Francisco Bay Area Affiliate's local fundraising efforts, such as the Komen SF Race for the Cure(R), have enabled it to fund projects such as new mammography equipment for San Francisco General Hospital & Trauma Center.

"The grant from San Francisco Affiliate Susan G. Komen for the Cure provides us with critical support to greatly improve access to mammography services for the City's most vulnerable women," said Roland Pickens, Senior Associate Administrator, San Francisco General Hospital. "In this time of diminishing resources, this grant is a beacon of hope in a financial storm."
