The two announced today that Samsung will be the inaugural corporate sponsor of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Global Promise Fund(R), launched earlier this year to support breast cancer awareness, outreach, research, and treatment programs around the world.
Samsung Electronics Europe president and CEO, In Soo Kim, said the Samsung-Komen partnership underscores Samsung's commitment to breast cancer programs. Samsung already provides support for breast cancer organizations in 17 European countries.
"Samsung recognizes that breast cancer affects many families throughout Europe," Kim said. "Because Samsung reaches millions of people through our products and presence, we aim to use our profile to influence and foster continuous, long-term support of breast cancer care. This partnership with Komen will go a long way toward achieving our mutual goal to end suffering from breast cancer."
The relationship will be officially launched Nov. 5 at the Samsung Pink Ribbon Gala in London at the Sheraton Hotel Park Lane, to be attended by leading CEOs, politicians, celebrities and advocates from throughout Europe. Funds raised at the gala will be directed specifically to the new Samsung Breast Cancer Initiative within Komen's Global Promise Fund.
