Saint Vincent Health Center Ensures Regulatory Compliance with SIS

ATLANTA, June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Each year hospital operating rooms face increasingly difficult challenges as patient safety requirements from regulatory agencies grow more demanding. Saint Vincent Health Center (SVHC) in Erie, PA uses a perioperative automation solution, Sunrise Surgery(TM), provided by Eclipsys Corp. and powered by Surgical Information Systems (SIS) to ensure compliance and consistently exceed state and national averages for quality measures.

The OR staff at SVHC face the same challenges that all hospitals share today when it comes to meeting the requirements of regulatory agencies. Organizations such as the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), and programs including the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) and the Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP), issue requirements which hospitals must meet in order to be in compliance. Lynne Yaple, RN, CNOR, clinical system administrator at SVHC, uses an OR solution provided by Surgical Information Systems to keep the OR staff on top of new regulatory requirements.
