Sacramento Plastic Surgeon Charles Perry, MD Embraces Innovative Technologies to Improve Appearance and Self-Esteem
Date:6/6/2009

A recent study from a leading organization of plastic surgeons indicates a 162 percent increase in cosmetic surgery since 1997. One Sacramento plastic surgeon is using his experience and skills combined with new technologies to treat patients who want to improve their appearance without anyone knowing they’ve “had work done.”

(Vocus) June 6, 2009 -- New statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery shows more than 10.2 million surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures were performed in the U. S. in 2008. That’s a 162 percent jump from the data first collected by the ASAPS in 1997. The study indicates the number one most performed surgical enhancement procedure was breast augmentation – with more than 355,671 cited in the report - followed by liposuction and eyelid surgery. For non-surgical enhancement procedures, BOTOX® Cosmetic led the way with 2,464, 123 procedures. Laser hair removal came in second with 1,280,964. Overall, 92 percent of cosmetic procedures were undergone by women, with men making up the rest.

Dr. Charles Perry is the head of a Sacramento plastic surgery practice called Chrysalis Cosmetics. Dr. Perry says patients at his practice come from across the demographic spectrum, and most who are considering cosmetic enhancement are looking for results that provide a noticeable improvement, but don’t give away the fact that the patient has undergone treatment. And Dr. Perry says aesthetic enhancement is not just about how one looks, but also how it can impact their self-esteem and give them a better vie
