SPO Medical Announces Entry into the Global Baby Monitor Consumer Market
Date:5/22/2008

A Unique Product Providing Real Parental Reassurance

NEW YORK, May 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SPO Medical Inc. (OTC: SPOM), a leading developer of biosensor and microprocessor technologies for use in portable monitoring devices, today announced the commencement of field trials for its latest homecare wellness product using SPO's patented technology and creating a new application for the traditional home baby monitor market.

Each year, there are approximately 4.1 million births in the US alone, of which over half are first time births; the statistics are similar for Western Europe. First time parents are particularly apprehensive about their new experiences and responsibilities with newborns; SPO's new baby monitor is designed to specifically address these early concerns and provides maximum reassurance for the new parents.

Many of today's typical baby monitors require the interaction of the parent or caregiver, in contrast to SPO's reassurance monitor that is proactive with an alarm call in the event that parental action is required. The Company's proprietary and patented technology uses information gathered from the reflectance of light, in a non-invasive manner, to monitor certain vital signs of the baby. Based on this proprietary technology, the baby monitor accurately and reliably measures the heart movement and analyzes the signal using proprietary algorithms to inform the parent of a potential change in the wellness status of the baby; this allows the parent to be proactive in addressing the needs of the baby at any given time.

"SPO is pleased to be able to bring to every parent a product that could give them greater reassurance as to the wellbeing of their babies," said Michael Braunold, President and Chief Executive Officer of SPO Medical. "The baby monitoring market has been waiting for a development of this kind of product for several years - the nature of our product delivers real parental reassurance using our
