CONCORD, Calif., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- In 2007, Round Table Family Charities raised $350,000 for Children's Miracle Network (CMN), an alliance of premiere children's hospitals throughout the United States. This is the second consecutive year Round Table Family Charities has devoted its efforts to CMN and the cause of helping children.
Central to the fundraising effort was Round Table Family Charities' Second Annual Golf Tournament. The event, held in the fall, raised $212,000 for Children's Hospital & Research Center in Oakland. Part of those funds will go towards the purchase of a portable ultrasound machine for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The remaining $138,000, raised by Round Table Pizza restaurants through a balloon drive, will go to other allied CMN hospitals and provide treatment for children whose families could not otherwise afford it.
"There are more than 240,000 patient visits at Children's Hospital & Research Center in Oakland. No child is turned away because of inability to pay," explains Suzanne M. Beauregard, director of Corporate Relations at Children's Hospital. "Round Table Family Charities has helped to provide needed funds so that we can continue to serve these children. Their passion and commitment to help us create miracles is truly amazing."
The event, spearheaded by Round Table Family Charities' president and board member and Round Table Pizza, Inc.'s president Rob McCourt, was the culmination of months of planning and hundreds of volunteer hours logged by Round Table Pizza employees. "It was wonderful to see the energy everyone put into this cause," says McCourt.
Last year, Round Table Family Charities raised $250,000 for Children's Miracle Network. This year, the organization bested that number by $100,000.
"The impact we had on families with last year's fundraiser was truly
