Brittany Oat brings TV news background to health and beauty PR agency Robin Leedy & Associates (RL&A), helping to develop its new online video production/content department for social media.
(PRWEB) May 26, 2010 -- OTC health and beauty PR specialists Robin Leedy & Associates (RL&A), a niche brand PR and social media agency, announces the addition of Brittany Oat as RL&A’s Digital Content Producer/Account Manager. Brittany left the spotlight of television news to help develop RL&A’s new video production/content department.
Over the past few years, video has continued to dominate the social/digital arena, says Robin Russo, RL&A president. The most recent Three Screen Report from The Nielsen Company found that the average American watches almost 35 hours of TV, two hours of time-shifted TV (shows recorded on a digital video recorder), 22 minutes of online video and four minutes of mobile video, while also spending at least four hours online each week.
“That means that at least 10 percent of the average consumer’s time online is engaging with videos…and that number is growing,” says Oat. “There are so many possibilities for making a product come alive with video, and what better way to tell a brand’s story than having real people tell the story.”
Brittany worked most recently as an on-air reporter and fill-in anchor for Cablevision, after working in various capacities at local broadcast TV, radio and print news outlets.
“Bringing Brittany onboard at RL&A is extremely exciting for us as we continue to strengthen our digital and broadcast offerings,” says Russo. “As video grows in importance in social media PR programs, being able to enhance our offerings and capabilities in-house is critical in order to be effective in the social arena.”
“In addition to taking RL&A clients to the airwaves, pitching broadcast news segments on national and local TV, she will also be creating video content for use on client Web sites, Facebook pages, YouTube channels, and more,” Russo adds.
Video content and the messages being communicated belong under the PR umbrella, along with social media messaging, which is a fast and ongoing, daily effort, says Russo. “We wanted to be able to produce content on a regular basis and Brittany’s creative background and editing capabilities will greatly enhance the effectiveness of our social media and direct-to-consumer campaigns.”
Brittany’s experience also includes stints at several news outlets, including WPTZ/NBC (Vermont), WSEE/CBS (Erie, PA), ABC News (Washington, DC), The Hartford Courant and more. She graduated from Boston University with a BA in broadcast journalism and was the winner of the Fox News Channel’s Challenge Award in 2007. Brittany also helped to rebuild Boston University’s award-winning news program, Inside Boston.
