Danbury, CT (PRWEB) May 01, 2013
On Sunday, April 28th, Ridley-Lowell Business & Technical Institute joined forces with Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS) "Run your tail off 5k" to raise money for homeless animals. Ridley-Lowell massage students and instructors offered free massages to people racing the 5k and their accompanying pets. The event successfully raised over $10,000 for this important charity.
Ridley Lowell's massage program includes many outside events to give students practice working on bodies under pressure while giving back to the local community. Last month, the students teamed up with AMTA to participate in the Danbury 1/2 marathon offering racers therapy before and after the race. Andrea Weymouth, director of the Ridley-Lowell Danbury campus stated, "even though Danbury is a young branch of Ridley-Lowell Business & Technical Institute, the students, faculty and administration are achieving many successes in our volunteer community outreach. Ridley-Lowell is proud to be a sponsor of DAWS and volunteer time."
Many Ridley-Lowell massage therapy graduates go on to work for sports teams, fitness clubs and medical clinics after graduating and becoming licensed. We are seeing increased employment opportunities up and beyond those typically in spas and hospitality centers. Ridley-Lowell's program is known for specializing in sports massage and medical massage.
