DoctorDisability.com riders joined over 2000 cyclists along Southern California's coast recently to raise funds for the 26th annual MS Bike Tour.
San Clemente, CA (PRWEB) October 28, 2008 -- On October 11 and 12, bike riders from DoctorDisability.com, a provider of disability income insurance, joined over 2,000 other cyclists along the sunny California coast to raise over $2 million for MS research. The cyclists rode together to raise both research funds and awareness for this devastating neuromuscular disease. The MS Bike Tour is sponsored by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
The money raised from the event goes toward continuing research to discover the cause and cure for multiple sclerosis and to provide a variety of services critical to those living with MS.
DoctorDisability.com, a leader in providing disability insurance to physicians and dentists, is proud to contribute to the ongoing efforts of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Multiple Sclerosis interrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body, interfering with movement, coordination, speech and vision. Every hour in the United States, someone is newly diagnosed with MS, an unpredictable and often debilitating disease of the central nervous system. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS from person to person can not be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between ages of 20 and 50, with more than twice as many women as men diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 400,000 people in the U.S. and 2.5 million worldwide.
