NASHVILLE, Tenn., May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Rhinestone Cure, a non- profit, charitable organization formed by Morelia Cuevas, daughter of legendary couture designer MANUEL, raises the awareness of Diabetes and the celebration of life! On Saturday May 31st Hotel Indigo, on West End, from 7pm until wee hours, will be putting on the glitz as stars of the music, NASCAR and fashion world all come together to attend Rhinestone Cure in honor of Morelia's 40th Birthday and she wants all gifts to be donations to Rhinestone Cure.
"No gifts, says Morelia. "But I am requesting a minimum of a $40.00 donation to join in the festivities. It will be a really fun evening for my 40th with food, live entertainment, and a few special sparkling rhinestone beverages." All proceeds will go to Rhinestone Cure.
"Hotel Indigo in Nashville will be transformed into the Rhinestone Palace," said Anna Jarvis, events manager of the Hotel. "We are proud to be the setting for Morelia's first great celebrity-packed glitzy event."
Rhinestone Cure will work toward creating a network telethon, as well as holding on-going "glitzy & entertaining" fundraising events & activities across the country. The money raised will be used to help support diabetes research and community outreach aimed at educating people on the realism of living with diabetes and helps those affected by the disease make positive choices.
"I have been blessed with an amazing life," says Morelia. "This organization is my way of giving back. Diabetes is a serious disease that can be managed with proper lifestyle but we still need a cure." A telethon to fight diabetes would be the opportunity to utilize Morelia's friends and many luminaries she has known since her childhood.
Bret Michaels, from the rock band Poison, and star of the VH1 reality show Rock Of Love is lending his support as a board member. The musician has had type 1 diabetes since age six. He joins Dr. Michael Fowler and Dr. Otto Sanchez of Vanderbilt University Medical Center as well as Dr. Gerald Trobough of Los Gatos, Ca. as board members of "Rhinestone Cure".
"Anything that I can do to support Morelia's efforts, I am on board," said Bret Michaels, after meeting with her while in town to perform at a sold-out concert at the Wildhorse Saloon. "I know her birthday will be a great event to help fight diabetes. She has learned to live with this disease just as I have and we rock!"
