Breakthrough Weight-Loss Plan Adapts to Dieter's Lifestyle

OWINGS MILLS, Md., March 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Medifast, Inc. (NYSE: MED) today announced the Grand Opening of a new Pikesville, Md., Medifast Weight Control Center franchise. The new Medifast Weight Control Center is located at Festival at Woodholme, 1809 Reisterstown Rd., Baltimore, Md. 21208.

"Our program is designed to help clients lose weight fast and then maintain a healthy weight for the rest of their life," says Nancy Jackson, Medifast Weight Control Center Manager. "You can eat the same foods other people eat and still lose weight. That's what makes our program a real breakthrough. And because it begins and ends at home, it's ideal for busy people whose active lifestyle doesn't allow for time-consuming weight-loss programs."

The heart and soul of the Medifast Weight Control Center concept is one-on-one counseling with a trained professional. The counselor helps each client design a personal program based on their lifestyle. Together the counselor and client determine an achievable weight-loss program based on a personal profile analysis and an in-body scan that shows exactly where the fat is and how much weight the patient needs to lose so there is no guessing.

"As doctors have known for years, it's not only how much you eat but also what you eat that determines how much you weigh, and that's what our program focuses on," says Jackson. "So many diet programs fail because the dieter either becomes bored with the restrictive food choices or results take so long that they lose interest. What's great about this program is that a client can see results right away while eating a variety of great-tasting foods."

Another innovation is Medifast's line of metabolism boosting products. Within the first few days the client will begin seeing results and feel an increase in energy. "This helps the client maintain excitement and motivation," says Joyce Hahn, President of the Pikesville and Bel Air Medifast Weight Control Centers. "When clients begin losing weight their first week, you can imagine what this does for their motivation. Our focus is to offer a clinically proven, rapid weight-loss program to our clients with guaranteed results," says Hahn.

Medifast Weight Control Centers offer the Medifast Program, which has been recommended by more than 15,000 doctors since 1980, along with a weight-loss services guarantee. Each client receives a customized solution to his or her weight-loss needs, and can expect to lose an average of up to two to five pounds per week.

The Medifast Weight Control Centers concept is particularly timely. There seems to be more attention focused on weight loss and a healthier lifestyle than ever before. But many of today's overweight Americans are too busy for long, sweaty workouts or complicated weight-loss regimens. The appeal of Medifast Weight Control Centers is that a weight-loss program has been developed that adapts to the dieter instead of the reverse.
