EsophyX and the Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication™ (TIF) procedure also offer a number of other benefits due to their minimal invasiveness. EsophyX represents the third generation of surgery. The transition from open surgery to laparoscopy has been regarded as the major advance in surgery in the last two decades. Laparoscopy reduced the skin incisions typical of open surgery to only from three-to-five port holes. EsophyX, however, is a giant leap forward and avoids incisions altogether.
