Revolutionary Procedure for the Treatment of Gastroesophageal Reflux Now Possible in San Francisco Thanks to Dr. Paul Cirangle
Date:11/14/2008

Millions of Americans who suffer every day from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) can now be helped with the new incisionless procedure, EsophyX™. Dr. Paul Cirangle is the first and only physician in San Francicso to offer this non-invasive alternative to pills.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 14, 2008 -- EsophyX™ is the first device for incisionless reconstructive surgical treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and is based on the principals of surgical repair of the gastroesophageal junction.

EsophyX is now available from Paul Cirangle, MD, FACS, of Laparoscopic Associates of San Francisco. Dr. Cirangle, a leader in the treatment of GERD and a pioneer in bariatric surgery, is the first specialist in San Francisco to be trained on the EsophyX™ procedure. "EsophyX™ can significantly improve quality of life for our patients," said Dr. Cirangle. "Many reflux patients are unable to consume carbonated beverages, caffeine, rich foods or fruit without triggering reflux. They also sleep sitting up to reduce nighttime reflux. After the EsophyX procedure, clinical trials show that most patients can eat and drink foods they avoided for many years. Reflux no longer impacts their life like it previously did. They can finally get back to living."

EsophyX and the Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication™ (TIF) procedure also offer a number of other benefits due to their minimal invasiveness. EsophyX represents the third generation of surgery. The transition from open surgery to laparoscopy has been regarded as the major advance in surgery in the last two decades. Laparoscopy reduced the skin incisions typical of open surgery to only from three-to-five port holes. EsophyX, however, is a giant leap forward and avoids incisions altogether. EsophyX-TIF never requires internal dissections. Because of this reduced invasiveness
