Resistance Band Training Expert Dave Schmitz in Canton, CT for Live Youth Fitness Event Today

Elizabethtown, KY (PRWEB) June 23, 2012

Resistance band training expert Dave “The Band Man” Schmitz is appearing today at Tyler English Fitness in Canton, CT for the IYCA East Coast Conference. The event began yesterday and concludes today with presentations by Schmitz and other fitness experts.

The event, hosted by the International Youth Conditioning Association, brings together 9 top youth fitness professionals from around the country to work closely with the coaches and trainers in attendance.

Recently named one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Health and Fitness, Dave “The Band Man” Schmitz will be headlining the event. He plans on teaching youth coaches how to incorporate reactive band training into youth athletic training programs.

“Resistance band exercises are quite underutilized by youth coaches around the country,” Schmitz says. “Resistance bands promote strength, power, agility, and mobility across all of the planes of movement used in athletic competition.”

Schmitz has worked as a physical therapist and certified strength and conditioning specialist since 1986. Since starting his own fitness company in 1997, Schmitz has worked tirelessly to spread awareness of resistance band training.

With its roots in injury prevention, resistance bands have been proven to be effective in not only treating injured athletes, but in improving sports performance in a safe, healthy way.

“Just like the IYCA, Dave Schmitz is dedicated to improving the ways youth coaches develop their athletes,” said IYCA CEO Pat Rigsby.

While Dave Schmitz will be on hand to teach youth coaches about how to properly train with resistance bands, the IYCA East Coast Conference will feature a variety of other interesting speakers.

This year’s lineup has included 9 youth fitness specialists who have experience training NCAA Champions, Olympians, and professionals. Such coaches include speed expert Latif Thomas and David Jack, two former elite NCAA athletes.

Other presenters include IYCA coach of the year Melissa Lambert, kettlebell training expert Pamela MacElree, youth and professional coach Jim Kielbaso, east coast gym owner Dave Gleason, Cressey Performance owner Eric Cressey, and the IYCA’s own Pat Rigsby.

The first ever IYCA East Coast Conference was made available to coaches and trainers of all levels of youth athletics.

“I’ve worked with many coaches who have never even heard of resistance bands,” Schmitz notes. “By the time their done learning from me, they’re able to use resistance bands to boost their kids athletic performance.”

The IYCA East Coast Conference started yesterday and concludes today.
