Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 17, 2013
Over the years, there have been plenty of organizations that raise money for autism research, from talks to walks, but few have really taken the plunge like the Renaissance Los Angeles Airport Hotel and Over the Edge With Autism Speaks. The two organizations have come together to put on a unique event which has individuals raising money and rappelling down the LAX luxury hotel.
This special event takes place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 27 at the Renaissance Los Angeles Airport hotel. During that time, individuals will scale down the 11-floor building for the thrilling, charitable event. Guided by experienced staff, these individuals will feel free as they drop down the side of the building. Each person is tasked to raise $1,500, meaning that as they scale the LA Airport hotel, they’ll be contributing plenty of money.
Those interested in participating in the event should hurry and sign up, as the hotel near Hollywood Park only has 76 slots open. Like many charities, individuals are supported by a team, so groups can get together to support one person’s descent while supporting a great cause. Everyone is invited to watch and cheer on their representative as they rappel.
Scott McCoy, general manager, of the luxury hotel in Los Angeles said, “We’re excited to be working with Autism Speaks to feature this adrenalin-charged experience. Rappelling down the hotel might seem dangerous, but with an experienced crew on hand, it’s perfectly safe and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to raise money for Autism Speaks. Such a high-profile event will help people discover this noble cause.”
Those interested in participating in the fundraiser must be 18 years or older (or have a legal guardian sign a waiver if they are under 18) and between 110 and 300 pounds. Entrants must raise $1,500, and there is a $100 registration fee that is credited toward the $1,500 goal.
After rappelling down the building or cheering someone on, participants can retire to comfortable rooms at the LAX luxury hotel. The Renaissance Los Angeles Airport Hotel features spacious rooms that strike the perfect balance between luxury and comfort. Each one of the spaces offers flat-screen televisions, plush beds and modern furniture. Guests can also swing by the onsite 96th Street Bistro, which serves delicious California-inspired cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
