LA PALMA, Calif., March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Relax The Back corporation sold a record number of new retail franchises in 2007. Company officials have announced 16 franchised locations were sold last year, and 12 new stores opened. Executives note that 2008 is shaping up to deliver similarly strong franchise sales results, with four stores already opened in the first two months of 2008, and another nine scheduled to open by June. The company's long-term goal is to operate 300 to 320 stores.
Bill McClymonds, Vice President of Franchise Development, attributes the company's energized growth to numerous factors: increased awareness of the brand; an expanded staff of real estate and franchise sales consultants; the company's expanded web presence, and the positive impact that a visit to a Relax The Back store has on individuals. "Most of our franchise owners have interacted with Relax The Back in ways that made them want to be involved much more deeply," McClymonds says. Many new franchise owners have been Relax The Back customers or employees, or they are back pain sufferers, he said.
He also notes that the company's focus - it is the world's largest retailer of ergonomic and back care products - is well-aligned with consumer demographics. Medical experts advise that the growing population of Baby Boomers can count on having - or knowing someone who has - back pain. Many will seek non-surgical solutions.
The stores are known for a high level of customer service, which is fueled by the intensive training that franchisees receive. This training includes a focus on ergonomics, understanding of medical terms and conditions, and an ability to recommend appropriate therapies from the 300 products they carry.
