Reform Icon Robert Woodson Sr. to Speak at the Steamboat Institute 2009 Inaugural Freedom Conference on Friday, August 28, 2009

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Steamboat Institute is pleased to announce that Robert Woodson Sr., founder and president of the Center for Neighborhood Enterprise, will speak at the 2009 Inaugural Freedom Conference at 12 Noon MT on Friday, August 28, 2009. The conference takes place at the Steamboat Grand Hotel in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

"I am excited to participate in the Steamboat Institute's inaugural event because I know how important it is to have active citizens at the grassroots level," said Woodson. "I applaud the participants for gathering to discuss the current state of our nation and the ways that we can bring focus back to reforms needed to make our country--and society - strong," said Woodson.

Woodson founded the Center for Neighborhood Enterprise in 1981 to empower local organizations to help their communities. He is a former civil rights and community activist. Woodson is the recipient of a John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Fellowship, a 2006 Presidential appointment to the Homeland Security Advisory Council, and a 2008 Presidential Citizens Medal. He has also authored several books including Summons to Life and The Triumphs of Joseph: How Community Healers are Reviving Our Streets and Neighborhoods.
