Reflections Recovery Center in Arizona Awarded The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Residential Addiction Treatment
Date:9/20/2017

Reflections Recovery Center, a men-only drug and alcohol addiction treatment center in Prescott, Arizona, is now accredited by The Joint Commission for chemical dependency and behavioral health services.

The Joint Commission is an independent, nonprofit organization that accredits and certifies U.S. health care organizations that meet the commission’s rigorous standards. Accreditation by The Joint Commission is the gold standard in quality control in the rehabilitation industry.

The accreditation comes after Reflections recently added an inpatient residential program, particularly to meet the growing need for opioid abuse detox and recovery services.

“The opioid epidemic has hit Arizona hard,” said Adam Bartholomew, CEO of Reflections. “Men in Arizona – and our clients from around the country – need a safe place to detox and receive high-quality treatment. When we decided to add a residential program, we wanted to get accredited so that our clients and their families can have the peace of mind of knowing that they’re in good hands.”

Residential treatment, also called inpatient treatment, includes round-the-clock medically supervised detox to help clients safely overcome the effects of withdrawal. Some substances, like alcohol, can result in life-threatening withdrawal symptoms in certain patients. With opioid and heroin addiction, the physical withdrawal symptoms are not life-threatening, but many people experience suicidal thoughts during withdrawal, so medical supervision can also protect clients from self-harm.

After the detox period, clients in both residential and outpatient treatment at Reflections attend therapy and educational sessions designed to help them overcome whatever psychological factors led to addiction in the first place, and create a plan for a new sober life.

As a male-only treatment center, Reflections’ program is able to focus on the unique needs of men going through recovery.

“We’re big on building camaraderie and peer support among our guys,” said Bartholomew. “We work hard, but we also have a lot of fun together. We provide recreational therapy that includes hiking and other outdoor activities. We have athletic events, BBQs, and outings at interesting local events. We don’t just talk to our guys about finding healthy ways to have fun; we give them experiences in actually doing it.”

Reflections also has a sober living opportunity for men who graduate and want to live nearby as they re-establish themselves. Reflections staff even helps alumni find jobs and permanent housing.

With Arizona’s beautiful weather in the winter and spring seasons, Reflection’s Prescott location (less than 2 hours north from central Phoenix) is a great option for people from the East Coast and Midwest who need a change of scenery as they embark on a fresh start.

Reflections also appeals to families who are looking for a combination of clinical and holistic treatment methods for their loved one. The staff at Reflections is licensed to provide cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and trauma-informed care (TIC), as well as holistic support such as meditation, yoga and reiki.
