DETROIT, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The Detroit Red Wings will host the team's First Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Night on Friday, October 26, when the team takes on the San Jose Sharks at Joe Louis Arena. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. game. The game is part of the National Hockey League's Hockey Fights Cancer month when all NHL players wore special pink decals on the back of their helmets to signify the NHL's collective effort to raise breast cancer awareness.
A variety of activities are scheduled for the evening to allow everyone to get involved and help raise awareness and in the fight against funds for breast cancer.
The team will host breast cancer patients, survivors and their families in an executive suite at the game. In addition, the Red Wings coaches and front office staff will wear pink ties as part of the NHL's Hockey Fights Cancer campaign and several Wings players will use pink tape on their sticks during the pre-game warm-ups. The ties and sticks will be individually autographed and auctioned off during the silent auction on the arena concourse behind Section 115. Other silent auction items include:

-- Chris Osgood's game worn jersey from the January 2, 2007 game retiring
Steve Yzerman's jersey
