Renea’s sculpted oil paintings display the intricate interface of provocative colors that call out a movement of the imagination in a textured oasis. Art enthusiasts say her use of oils creates a thick and buttery appearance similar to ribbon candy, so real and vivid. All of Renea’s creative energy shows part painter and part sculptor in truly amazing work. Each of the swirls she creates takes the viewer on another journey of extraordinary proportion.
Renea’s bold influence is inspired by her travels and experiences. In her art the paintings display the intricate marriage of technique and color that brings her work to life in a very dazzling display. “My creative soul was inspired by a desire to evoke my emotions at the deepest level with vibrant color swirls that exude off the canvas and into the heart of the viewer” Menzies said as she prepares her work for the show.
Renea’s use of the pallet knife is much like the brick mason works with mortar as she blends a variety of colors moving the paint around the canvas. The effect creates a 3-D look as the shapes and contours reveal each magnificent sculpted oil flower. He work is a combination of delicate design with a bold finish.
Renea is Houston native where she was raised with her three brothers. Renea’s journey as an artist began over a decade ago. As a professional international model, she traveled the globe to some of the most exotic locations in the world. Her sense of style was heavily influenced by Spanish, Mexican and European cultures.
