Heavy snow storms have hit eastern, central and southern China since January 10. Worst in half a century, the storms have killed more than 60 people, caused power shortage and billions of dollars in damage. Severe weather has also created transportation crisis as major highways, railroads and airports are closed, leaving millions of travelers stranded. The situation is further worsened by the busiest travel season in China as people head home for the traditional Chinese New Year holiday starting on February 7.

The Red Cross Beijing has setup a hotline for Snow Disaster Relief. People can send cash donations through bank wires. In addition to traditional donation channels, the Red Cross has partnered with YeePay to setup an Internet donation channel to receive online donations. Many of YeePay's partner banks, including ICBC, China Merchants Bank and China Minsheng Bank, also joined the effort to promote Red Cross's donation service on their websites.
