In addition to the identity quest, there were many obstacles that remained after stardom, such as racial prejudice endured after he purchased a home in ritzy Hancock Park. Controversy plagued the historic home with him being one of the very few first African Americans in the ritzy neighborhood. After he decorated his front lawn with twenty replicas of world renowned “Michelangelo’s David” Statues, his journey consisted of enduring countless experiences of racial prejudice even in the millennium. Norwood would spend the next thirteen years fighting for his freedom of expression as uptight neighbors tried to get him to get him to take the statues down or better yet move out. The late Honorable Johnny Cochran pro bono, represented Norwood in the cases brought him and won.

Today the infamous Youngwood Court Estate is both a landmark and tourist attraction. As of November 2008 , change has come. As Barack Obama is elected in to the office of the President of the USA, so is Norwood Young inducted as the “King of Hancock Park” by the prestigious “La City Beat” publication, where he received proclamations by Tom Labonge, and Bernard Parks both city councilman. They acknowledged him for his strength and courage to fight for his rights to freedom of speech and self expression. The event was hosted by Natalie Cole. Norwood Young is also synonymous with throwing and producing some of the most over the top and lavish parties /events ever seen in Hollywood .

A philanthropist at heart, Norwood continues to work with restaurants and homeless shelters the city of Los Angeles through his nonprofit “Feed His People.” a non-profit organization that works diligently providing food daily to those in need of food .,

“I am finally ready to change lives and encourage victims to take their power back by telling my story,” says Young.
