Quorn Foods Responds to Recent Article on the Health Implications of Vegan Dieting
Date:1/14/2013

Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) January 14, 2013

On January 14, Quorn Foods responds to an article on the health implications of vegan dieting and the different occurrences in 2012 that point to a trend in veganism.

According to an article from nwitimes.com, 2012 was a great year for vegans. Between Michele Obama’s campaign to improve the food quality in school cafeterias to the exposure of the mistreatment of animals at pig and egg farms, the nation is continuing to become increasingly vegan.

The article also cited a study on the health benefits of vegan dieting. “In March, a study involving nearly 38,000 men and 84,000 women by the Harvard School of Public Health concluded that one daily serving of meat is associated with a 13 percent to 20 percent increase in the risk of death from heart disease or cancer,” the article stated.

Quorn representative David Wilson applauded the piece, saying that he is glad more and more Americans are turning to healthy vegan or vegetarian diets. “With so many problems like obesity and heart disease affecting our nation, it’s important to continue this trend toward vegan lifestyles,” Wilson said.

Wilson went on to state that there are plenty of delicious vegan recipes out there, and if more people give them a try perhaps they will be inclined to become a vegan or vegetarian. “We don’t expect every single person to eat only fruits and vegetables but if we support awareness of it then maybe more people will have healthier diets and lifestyles. People should also be aware that there are numerous options out there for those who love the taste of meat. Quorn products replicate the taste and texture of meat deliciously, so you don’t have to give up your favorite dishes.”

Quorn Foods launched nationally in the US in 2002. Unlike other vegetarian food companies, Quorn foods use mycoprotein: a naturally occurring, healthy form of protein that replicates the taste and texture of meat while being significantly lower in saturated fats and calories. Quorn Foods offer a wide range of products including ready to serve meals, food for your barbecue, breaded meat substitutes, snacks and components to make your own meals from scratch. The wonderful taste of Quorn meatless meals provides the taste of the foods you love without sacrificing nutrition.
