Quality Associates to Digitize Confidential Case Files for the District of Columbia Courts
Date:3/7/2013

Fulton, Md. (PRWEB) March 07, 2013

Quality Associates, Inc. (QAI) http://www.qualityassociatesinc.com, a provider of enterprise-class services and solutions for document management, imaging and archiving, today announced that it has been selected by the District of Columbia Courts to perform a large-scale scanning contract on behalf of the Family Court Operations Division. QAI will scan and index 10,000 archived paper case files as part of the Family Court Operations Relinquishment Imaging Project. Relinquishments are records related to an adoption proceeding and are considered confidential and sealed records.

By law, adoption records must be retained permanently. To assure their confidentiality and integrity, the Superior Court stored files dating back to September 1956 on-site. Thousands of files currently occupy a substantial portion of its high-density filing unit, with capacity about to be exceeded. Thus, the decision was made to digitize paper files older than 10 years. The conversion will enable Family Court Operations Division personnel to use current technology to access case information more efficiently, a process of particular importance when parties seek to gain approval to open sealed adoption cases.

QAI will perform the digitization and case file indexing services on-site at the D.C. Family Court Operations Division offices located in the D.C. Superior Courthouse in Washington, D.C. QAI will convert confidential and sensitive records spanning the period of 1956 to 2003 and enter the data into the D.C. Courts CourtView case management database.

Rosalyn V. Johnson, Adoption's Supervisor, Family Court/D.C. Superior Court, said, “Quality Associates, Inc. has been efficient and professional throughout all phases of our project. Their staff is pleasant to work with, and they focus on customer satisfaction.”
