QIDE REC Is Now Offering Consumer eHealth Engagement Tools to Healthcare Providers in Delaware

Quality Insights of Delaware - Regional Extension Center (QIDE REC) today announced that it has entered into an agreement with National eHealth Collaborative (NeHC) to purchase a bundle (50) of one-year subscriptions to NeHC’s Consumer eHealth Readiness Tool(CeRT) – powered by HealthCAWS. These subscriptions will be available to QIDE REC clients at no charge, on a first-come, first-served basis.

“We are pleased to collaborate with Quality Insights of Delaware REC to advance consumer engagement in eHealth throughout Delaware,” said Kate Berry, CEO of National eHealth Collaborative. “The CeRT will help providers accelerate their progress in engaging consumers in their care, which in turn will drive better health outcomes.”

The NeHC CeRT is a support service developed by HealthCAWS that includes an extensive survey-based organizational assessment, real-time progress reports, a comprehensive resource center and a solutions directory. An online business intelligence tool that measures an organization’s consumer engagement capabilities and practices, the CeRT assessment includes detailed questions in four progressive consumer engagement dimensions: informed consumer, empowered consumer, engaged consumer and partnered consumer. It also addresses additional concepts, including technology, infrastructure, culture and outcome measurement.

The CeRT is aligned with the widely adopted NeHC Patient Engagement Framework, a comprehensive guide vetted by over 150 healthcare stakeholders and a diverse set of health IT, standards and consumer advocacy organizations. The CeRT is also mapped to relevant Meaningful Use criteria, which will be invaluable to health care providers when preparing for Stage 2 Meaningful Use.

On September 11, 2013, QIDE REC became the first of 62 Health Information Technology Regional Extension Centers (RECs) nationwide to reach its goal of helping 1,000 Delaware primary care providers achieve Stage 1 Meaningful Use. QIDE REC has emerged as a high-achieving REC and plans to continue on its successful path by providing its clients with the patient engagement tools they will need to not only prepare for Stage 2 Meaningful Use, but more importantly, greatly enhance the patients’ role as an active participant in their own care.


Quality Insights of Delaware - Regional Extension Center was awarded through an objective review process by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC), as the designated organization in Delaware to support primary health care providers on EHR adoption and meaningful use.
