Representatives from Quorum Health Resources (QHR) and Valley Health System (VHS) announced today they have mutually decided to terminate their contractual relationship. Effective as of June 1, 2009, QHR will no longer provide management services to VHS, but will be retained to provide ongoing group purchasing and supply chain management services.

(PRWEB) June 5, 2009 -- Representatives from Quorum Health Resources (QHR) and Valley Health System (VHS) announced today they have mutually decided to terminate their contractual relationship. Effective as of June 1, 2009, QHR will no longer provide management services to VHS, but will be retained to provide ongoing group purchasing and supply chain management services.

As part of the new agreement, VHS Chief Executive Officer Fred M. Harder and Chief Financial Officer John Renner - both previously employed by Quorum - will become employees of VHS reporting directly to the VHS board.

"This is a highly unusual arrangement for us, but we respect the board and share their goal that the facilities continue to succeed," said QHR Vice President Kenneth Venuto, who heads the company's "turnaround" unit, known as Intensive Resource Group. "In 19 short months, our management team made significant, foundational improvement at Valley Health that positioned the system not only for survival, but for continued growth and long-term relevance."
