Brentwood, Tenn. (PRWEB) May 23, 2009 -- Trustees representing hospitals from across the United States attended QHR's 2009 Regional Trustee Conferences, which were held in New Orleans on February 4-6; Denver on February 11-13; Chicago on April 1-3; and Charlotte on May 6-8. The conferences focused on hospital leadership in tough times.
"The fact is that hospital trustees and administrators are facing challenges unlike those they've experienced before," said QHR President and CEO James L. Horrar. "The economic challenges are daunting. They're being asked to do more with less and to operate under increasingly intense scrutiny. Our goal in developing these conferences was to arm our trustees with the information they need to survive and thrive in today's marketplace while providing quality care and remaining financially viable."
"I can honestly say that, overall, this is the best conference I've been to in the past six years," said Dennis Ochs, chairman of the board at Logan Medical Center in Guthrie, Okla., and Modern Healthcare's 2007 Trustee of the Year.
Other conference attendees credited QHR with creating an event that addressed "relevant topics" and included information that was "on target" and "valuable from a trustee's perspective."
QHR's 2-day conferences, which were offered regionally to help hospitals minimize travel expenses, began with a welcome address from Horrar, followed by presentations titled:
"The Impact of National Healthcare Trends on Your Hospital"
"Hard Operating Decisions to Survive and Thrive"
"Board's Role in Quality"
"Legal Issues for Trustees"
"How to Communicate When the News Is Not Good"
"Reducing Costs Without Reducing Staff"
"Access to Capital in Tight Markets" by
"How QHR Supports Your Hospital"
"American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and Healthcare Reform"
