Pulitzer Prize Winner, Chief Experience Officer, to Keynote Patient Safety Solution Evolution
Date:2/15/2013

(PRWEB) February 15, 2013

A Pulitzer Prize-winning author and the country’s first “chief experience officer” are among those scheduled to keynote the National Patient Safety Foundation’s 15th Annual Patient Safety Congress to be held May 8-10, 2013, in New Orleans, LA.

The theme of this year’s Congress, Patient Safety Solution Evolution, represents the remarkable growth of the patient safety field and the dynamic nature of the work being done today. As the only conference dedicated solely to patient safety, the NPSF Congress is a unique opportunity for practitioners, leaders, patient advocates, and experts to network and share best practices, research, and innovation.

“The NPSF Congress is unique because it attracts such an interesting and engaging cross section of people all concerned about patient safety,” said Jane Englebright, PhD, RN. “It really is a wonderful mixture of a lot of different perspectives.”

Dr. Englebright, chief nursing officer, patient safety officer, and vice president of the Clinical Services Group, Hospital Corporation of America, is a co-chair of the 2013 Patient Safety Congress. “This year we are coming together during Nurses Week, so we plan to highlight some of the important contributions nurses make to patient safety,” she said.

The meeting opens May 8 with Pre-Congress Day, where attendees participate in half-day or full-day workshops. The full program, May 9-10, features 25 breakout sessions and four keynote speakers:

-Joe Hallinan, Pulitzer Prize winner and author of Why We Make Mistakes, will explore the science of human error—how we think, see, remember, and forget.
-Dr. Bridget Duffy, former chief experience officer at Cleveland Clinic, will discuss why patient experience matters to patient safety.
-Suzanne Gordon, noted author and journalist, will present an interact
