Providence Hospital Appoints Four New Members to its Board of Directors

Providence Hospital introduced four new members to its Board of Directors on April 26, 2010, Nalini N. Jairath, PhD, RN, Joseph A. Quash, M.D., F.A.C.C., Derek Leebaert, D.Phil, and Steve Strazzella, SVP, Bozzuto Development. These four new members bring an impressive amount of experience and expertise to help support the mission of Providence Hospital.

Washington, DC (Vocus) May 7, 2010 -- Providence Hospital introduced four new members to its Board of Directors on April 26, 2010, Nalini N. Jairath, PhD, RN, Joseph A. Quash, M.D., F.A.C.C., Derek Leebaert, D.Phil, and Steve Strazzella, SVP, Bozzuto Development. These four new members bring an impressive amount of experience and expertise to help support the mission of Providence Hospital.

Nalini N. Jairath, PhD, RN is currently the Dean of the School of Nursing at Catholic University of America where she has held this position since 2004. Dr. Jairath is also a member of the Editorial Board of Nursing Research at Lippincott Publishers and the Chair of the Scientific Review Panel on Evidence Based Practice Initiatives and Tri-service Nursing Research Program. She has an incredible background in nursing, education, research and grant development. Other memberships Dr. Jairath holds are the American Council of Cardiovascular Nurses at the American Heart Association, American Nurses’ Association, Maryland Nurses Association, National League of Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society for Nursing.

Joseph A. Quash, M.D., F.A.C.C. is the Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab at Providence Hospital, and a Board Certified Cardiologist with Capital Cardiology Consultants P.C. He recently completed his term as the President Elect of the Medical and Dental Staff at Providence. During his service in the US Military, he received prestigious awards such as the U.S. Army Meritorious Service Medal, the US Army Commendation Medal, and the DeHaven Hinkson Award for outstanding achievement in the USA. Dr. Quash is a member of the National Medical Association, DC Medical Society, American Heart Association, the American Medical Association and he is an American College of Cardiology fellow. In the past he has served on the Providence Health Foundation Board as well as the Providence Medical Executive Committee. He is married to wife Eleanor Simmons, MD and has three children, Michelle, Linda and Joseph A. Quash, Jr, MD.

Derek Leebaert, D.Phil. is presently the Director and Partner of MAP AG’s North American Office, a leading management consulting firm which enables boards and CEO’s to align operations, people, and strategy for optimum execution. He is also a Professorial Lecturer at Georgetown University in Business Strategy, Technology Management and International Competitiveness. Mr. Leebaert holds a D.Phil. in economics from Oxford University, and was a Visiting Fellow at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, where he was a founding editor of the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management. He is also a founding editor of The International Economy, a specialized quarterly magazine covering global financial policy, economic trends, and international trade.

Steve Strazzella is currently Senior Vice President of Bozzuto Development Company. He manages the development of approximately 2,000 apartment units throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area. Prior to his tenure with Bozzuto, Mr. Strazzella held real estate and construction positions with the Clark Companies and Roy F. Weston Inc. He is an active member of the Washington Real Estate Group, Urban Land Institute, District of Columbia Building Industry Association and Maryland National Capital Building Industry Association. He is a native Washingtonian where he resides with his wife and three children.

Each candidate brings a unique set of abilities to the board, providing beneficial connections that will allow for the growth and development of the hospital and its future endeavors. The four new members will make a great addition to the success of Providence Hospital.
