Prosthetic Center of Excellence to Provide Breakthrough Technology to Rehabilitation Patients
Date:2/10/2009

Imagine technology so advanced that it may help stroke and other neurological patients to regain lost mobility and also may enable them to achieve greater independence than they believed to be possible. This highly sophisticated technology is now a reality at Prosthetic Center of Excellence (PCE). PCE is among the first in the Las Vegas, NV area to offer this breakthrough therapy and will serve as a regional evaluation and treatment site for patients interested in trying out the new device.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) February 10, 2009 -- In a recent interview on The Today Show, Meredith Vieira interviewed Jonna Patton who is overcoming the limiting effects of Multiple Sclerosis with the help of loved ones and a new electronic device by Bioness called the Ness L300.

Central nervous system injuries often result in foot drop--leading to instability and difficulty walking. The NESS L300™ neuro-rehabilitation system is a revolution in Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) technology, designed to help patients experiencing foot drop to regain mobility and help "normalize" walking and gait. The L300 uses wireless communication to "talk" to its components, eliminating cumbersome wires and allowing the clinician the ability to fine-tune settings while the patient is actually walking. This user-friendly system is appropriate for a broad range of conditions, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and incomplete spinal cord injury.

Gwen Webb-Johnson, expert & owner/CPO of Prosthetic Center of Excellence, says the "L300 compliments and accelerates traditional therapy, we are eager to integrate this technology into our Orthotic and Prosthetic patient setting, by adopting this technology as a standard of care, we can maximize rehabilitation by using the device between therapy sessions and even encourage patients to purchase the L300 and use it at home."
