Prominent Beverly Hills Psychologist Dr. Kathleen Mojas Celebrates 20 Years in Private Practice Explains Why Thinking Positively Just Isn’t Enough
Date:7/21/2014

Beverly Hills, California (PRWEB) July 21, 2014

Dr. Kathleen Mojas, a Beverly Hills psychologist celebrating 20 years in private practice, explains why thinking positive is not enough. “We may consciously want to change the way we feel or think but it’s not that simple, because we all carry around unconscious programming or mind maps that tell us how to react based on past experience. These maps act like a filter and tell us how to perceive, feel and react to all areas of our life and often keeps us stuck in limiting patterns.

To change dysfunctional habits of thought and behavior we first have to understand that we have 2 minds: The conscious mind, where you are trying to tell yourself to think positively and the unconscious mind, where your old programming is really running the show.”

Dr. Mojas further explains, that “it is not enough to just know that you have some faulty thinking or beliefs based on painful past experiences. It is necessary to re-process those experiences in order to change what has been imprinted and stored in our unconscious mind. This old programming acts like a map or blueprint that dictates a very limiting strategy for how everyone goes about living, loving and working.”

Dr. Mojas uses several cutting edge therapies to help re-process memories that are keeping people stuck in old habits of mind; freeing them to break through to new, more positive strategies in order to become the best version of themselves.

The techniques Dr. Mojas swears by include EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and RRT (Rapid Resolution Therapy). These therapies seem to help change mind maps in the brain in the following ways: Create a relaxation response; Change brain wave activity and replace negative images and beliefs with positive emotional experiences.

A typical example of this healing process is shared in the story of a client Dr. Mojas treated, whose mother left his family when he was 8 years old. “He was a 50-year-old man who had never been in a long-term committed relationship. His mind map for relationships told him that it’s not safe to depend on anyone. He believed that if he let himself need someone he could be rejected and abandoned. After 6 sessions with EMDR and EFT he was able to reprocess the memories around his mother leaving and begin to feel comfortable with the idea of committing to his girlfriend for the first time in his adult life! Liberated from his fear laden mind map, he was able to move forward with his on again off again girlfriend into a committed relationship.”

Dr. Mojas has been helping clients update their mind maps for success, love and even better health for the past 20 years. Although positive thinking has its place in self-help, it is simply not enough to override the limiting mind maps that most of us carry around in the unconscious. She enthusiastically encourages everyone to learn about these cutting edge techniques and to be hopeful that healing, at any point in life, is possible.
