Professor Ibrahim Gambari appointed KWASU’S Chancellor

A seasoned scholar and internationally acclaimed diplomat, Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari has been appointed as the pioneer Chancellor of the Kwara State University.

A statement from the Head of Public Relations, Hamidat Sulyman Yusuf says the executive Governor of Kwara State and Visitor to the University, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed approved the diplomat's appointment . Professor Gambari was the former Director of the Institute of International Affairs, former minister for External Affairs of Nigeria. former permanent representative of Nigeria to the United Nations and former under-secretary –general of the United Nations, and is now the Joint African Union's –United Nations representative for Darfur.

The Vice –Chancellor of the Kwara State University. Professor AbdulRasheed Na’Allah in response to the appointment expressed gratitude to the state Governor for choosing an International scholar as KWASU’S first chancellor. This according to him is befitting of KWASU’s march to attaining a world class status, he congratulated Professor Gambari for the recognition accorded him.
