Professional Center for Enhanced Performance Uses Neurofeedback

The Professional Center for Enhanced Performance (ProCEP) uses Neurofeedback to treat learning, behavioral and attention disorders in children.

Neurofeedback is a brain exercise that is also referred to as an EEG (electroencephologram) or biofeedback. The staff at ProCEP observes the brain in action from moment to moment by monitoring brainwaves. They will show patients their brain activity and offer solutions by rewarding shifts toward a more functional, stable brain state.

The training improves attention, cognitive abilities and emotional regulation. Additionally, it can help reduce or eliminate a number of common symptoms such as anxiety, headaches, depression, migraines, stress reactions and sleep problems.

In 2012, the American Academy of Pediatrics announced that biofeedback was a "Level 1- Best Support" intervention for attention and hyperactivity behaviors. Currently, Neurofeedback is being used to improve cognitive abilities outside ADHD, Autism, - addressing issues such as brain injuries, PTSD, sleep disorders, stress - due to the increasing recognition and support it is getting across the country.
