Prodigy Again Teams Up with National Federation of the Blind at N.C. Convention

Blood glucose meters honored by NFB to be part of group convention

Charlotte, N.C. (Vocus) September 10, 2009 -- Prodigy® blood glucose meters, which worked with the National Federation of the Blind to create the market's first fully audible meter, will be on display at this year's NFB of North Carolina's State Convention, Friday through Sunday in Raleigh.

"Considering the wonderful relationship Prodigy® has with the National Federation of the Blind, we're thrilled to be a participant in this year's North Carolina convention," said Rick Admani Abulhaj, chief operating officer of Diagnostic Devices, Inc., the maker of Prodigy® blood glucose meters and test strips.

"We know all too well that an estimated 22 percent of people with diabetes suffer from low vision or blindness," said Abulhaj, whose grandfather lost his sight to diabetes. "So we designed our Prodigy Voice™ for these patients specifically, a meter that was completely audible."

The NFB North Carolina State Convention is being held at the Holiday Inn Crabtree Valley in Raleigh.

"The NFB of North Carolina is excited to continue our partnership with both Prodigy® and its distributors, especially with Prodigy® meters being manufactured by DDI right here in North Carolina," said Gary Ray, president of the state's NFB chapter.
