ProEPA™ with Concentrated GLA from Nordic Naturals Offers High Concentrations of EPA and GLA for Targeted Support
Date:7/17/2013

Watsonville, CA (PRWEB) July 17, 2013

Nordic Naturals®, the leading manufacturer of omega-3 supplements, introduces Pro EPA™ with Concentrated GLA, formerly known as ProEFA® Xtra. This unique product offers an exceptionally high concentrate of the omega-3 eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and the beneficial omega-6 gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), as well as the omega-3 docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) for comprehensive essential fatty acid support.

Monique Wellise, National Sales Manager for Nordic Naturals Professional Division said, “This unique combination is exclusive to the professional market. We are excited to re-launch this powerful formula as one of many targeted exclusives for practitioners.”

The highly concentrated omega oil blend provides support for the heart, skin, and the body’s neurological and immune systems. It combines 850 mg of EPA and 220 mg of DHA from fish oil, manufactured in the highly bioavailable triglyceride form, with 257 mg of 70% concentrated GLA from borage seed.

According to Keri Marshall, MS, ND, and Nordic Naturals Chief Medical Officer, “EPA, DHA, and GLA are all essential for optimal nutrition. When a product combines all three, research suggests it confers benefits beyond what each essential fatty acid offers alone. Studies show that GLA works synergistically with EPA and DHA to promote optimal cell health by providing membrane integrity and increased fluidity of the cell.”

Marshall added, “Some individuals do not make enough delta-6 desaturase, the enzyme that converts dietary alpha-linolenic acid to GLA. It is important that those who lack this enzyme supplement with GLA.”

The EPA and DHA in the product are derived from 100% wild-caught sardines and anchovies. The GLA is from borage seed, which has the highest naturally occurring GLA of any known plant-based source. Like all Nordic Naturals products, independent labs test every batch of Pro EPA with Conce
