Price Chopper Supermarkets Deploy Micromedex Solutions From Thomson Reuters as Key Component of Its Patient-Centered Care Initiatives

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Price Chopper Supermarkets has implemented Micromedex(R) evidence-based solutions for drug and disease reference, patient education, and consumer health information as part of its patient-centered care initiatives for pharmacy customers.

Price Chopper, in business for more than 75 years, has 119 supermarkets in the northeastern United States and continues to grow in this region. It operates pharmacies in 68 stores, with each location filling between 300 and 2,000 prescriptions per week.

Micromedex reference solutions from Thomson Reuters are an important part of Price Chopper's Medication Therapy Management program. Through the program, pharmacists provide one-on-one, face-to-face medication counseling with patients and communicate with prescribers to identify issues, ensure accurate dosing, and provide instructions on proper medication use. Micromedex reference data and patient education monographs are readily accessible to Price Chopper pharmacy staff from within their dispensing system, allowing quick access to the answers they need without disrupting their workflow.
