Preferred Care Partners Management Group Deploys Voice-Assisted Care
Date:2/11/2009

Voice-assisted care will enable more time for direct resident care, deliver higher levels of documentation accuracy and increase staff satisfaction

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Vocollect Healthcare Systems, Inc. announces that Preferred Care Partners Management Group (Preferred Care) headquartered in Plano, Texas, will deploy AccuNurse(R) voice-assisted care in two of its managed skilled nursing and rehabilitation communities - Woodridge Nursing and Rehabilitation in Grapevine, Texas, and University Park Nursing and Rehabilitation in Des Moines, Iowa; with the remaining sites throughout its 64 managed facility enterprise to follow.

Preferred Care expects the investment in voice-assisted care to take quality of care to new levels of performance by enabling more proactive care, increasing productivity of its direct care team and providing more time for direct resident care. By giving caregivers the ability to access resident care needs on demand, complete paperwork simply by talking, enhance care team collaboration with Silent Paging(TM) and respond faster to resident needs, Preferred Care will achieve numerous performance and reimbursement gains, including enabling higher levels of staff efficiency and satisfaction while increasing quality, eliminating paperwork, and achieving compliance.

According to Susan LupPlace, RN, director of clinical services at Preferred Care, "Our decision to invest in voice-assisted care is a win for all those it will touch in our communities - and its impact will be significant. Not only will AccuNurse increase quality of care for our residents through our clinical staff's ability to significantly increase adherence to the care plans, but we also expect to realize increased reimbursements by providing accurate, real-time information on how we're caring for residents. The other significant win is for our staff, all of whom are very excited to be using voice-assisted care to streamline their jobs. Investing in AccuNurse is just one more level of respect we pay to our team for the hard work they do every day on behalf of our residents."

For Preferred Care, AccuNurse voice-assisted care enables the following processes: real-time access to information and other staff; the elimination of paper-based printouts for managing care needs and documentation; the ability for caregivers to make decisions more accurately and quickly; and, the ability for the care team to multi-task while documenting care, thereby improving productivity and directing more time back to residents.

"Our residents understand we're adding voice-assisted care as a way to help us care for them," said LupPlace. "They may not understand all the 'ins and outs' that go into managing documentation, but they certainly know and understand better service. They'll know we're spending more time with them, responding to their needs more quickly, not to mention enjoying a more homelike environment by eliminating overhead paging. Our entire team views AccuNurse as the future of care delivery in long-term care, and we're proud to be at the forefront - for our residents' and staffs' sake."

According to James Quasey, president of Vocollect Healthcare Systems, "With voice-assisted care, Preferred Care will benefit from real-time communication and documentation while also enabling their care team to devote more time to residents. At the same time, Preferred Care will realize a return on investment for the care they provide to residents, simply by embracing the most advanced care delivery system available today. We're very proud to welcome Preferred Care to our growing family of communities that are collectively setting the standard for high-quality care in the industry."
