WAYNE, Pa., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Precyse Solutions, the leader in driving peak performance within Health Information Management (HIM) departments, today announced that its Vice President of Compliance and Privacy Officer, Cheryl Servais, MPH, RHIA, authored The Legal Health Record. With more than 30 years of progressive experience in the healthcare industry, Servais provides expert insight on the most recent changes in what constitutes a legal health record. The Legal Health Record describes how the legal process applies to electronic health records (EHRs) and provides an in-depth discussion on how to establish and maintain the legal EHR.

"The Legal Health Record serves as an informative resource for HIM professionals and health law attorneys, who need to be aware of the legal changes surrounding health records, especially electronic health records (EHRs)," said Servais. "The book provides useful information on how to responsibly manage EHRs and comply with legal regulations."

Other topics that HIM professionals can gain insight on are: the importance of the legal EHR as interoperability, RHIOs, and PHRs gain public awareness; national issues relating to privacy, and patient rights and responsibilities and "the six As" of legal EHRs: accuracy, authorship, authentication, audit trails, amendments and alternatives.

Precyse will highlight Servais by hosting a book signing during the 79th Annual AHIMA Convention and Exhibit in Philadelphia, October 6-11. Servais will be available to sign copies of her book at Precyse Solutions' Booth 149 on Monday, October 8 from 5:15p.m.-6:00p.m. and Tuesday, October 9 from 2:00p.m.-3:30p.m. Copies of The Legal Health Record can be purchased at http://www.ahima.org or at the AHIMA booth at the AHIMA Convention and Exhibit.
