Precautionary Allergy Alert on Undeclared Milk Protein in Expired Codes of Broughton Foods' Pints of Orange Juice, Citrus Punch, Fruit Punch and Iced Tea Products

MARIETTA, Ohio, Feb. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Broughton Foods of Marietta, OH, is voluntarily recalling the following products:

  • Pints of Broughton Orange Juice with a date of January 14, 2009 or earlier (printed as MM DD YY) and a UPC code of 70880 02070;
  • Pints of Broughton Citrus Punch with a date of September 17, 2008 or earlier (printed as MM DD YY) and a UPC code of 70880 02130;
  • Pints of Broughton Fruit Punch with a date of September 16, 2008 or earlier (printed as MM DD YY) and a UPC code of 70880 02234; and
  • Pints of Broughton Brewed Iced Tea With Sugar Added with a date of December 20, 2008 or earlier (printed as MM DD YY) and a UPC code of 70880 02063.

This recall is precautionary in nature and was initiated because the products may contain undeclared milk protein. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk protein may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products. No illnesses have been reported. Broughton Foods has confirmed that all affected products are past their expiration dates and therefore should no longer be available for sale in the marketplace. No other Broughton Foods products are involved in this recall.

The recall involves 280,235 units of pints of Broughton Orange Juice; 5,544 units of pints of Broughton Citrus Punch; 9,895 units of pints of Broughton Fruit Punch; and 146,202 units of pints of Broughton Brewed Iced Tea With Sugar Added. The affected products were distributed in Southeastern Ohio, West Virginia (except the panhandle), Eastern Kentucky and the Covington and Clifton Forge areas of Virginia to numerous retail outlets.
