WASHINGTON, July 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Last week, the Board of Directors of the Private Hospitals Association (PHA) approved a new business plan that will serve as a roadmap for the future of the organization and describes the actions the association must undertake to enable it to fulfill its mission of providing the best possible care for patients throughout Jordan.
The development of the business plan was supported by the USAID-funded SABEQ (Sustainable Achievement of Business Expansion and Quality) program. Dr. Sharon Goldsmith of Plexus Consulting Group (http://www.plexusconsulting.com) worked extensively with the PHA leaders as well as the SABEQ staff in the development of the business plan as well as exploring opportunities related to medical tourism. The Board of PHA had several meetings over a five week period to develop a draft business plan, culminating in a consensus conference on June 23 at which PHA members and representatives from related organizations was reviewed, analyzed, and changed as appropriate each goal, action and task detailed in the draft plan. The goals specified in the business plan are directed both at what the organization needs to do to serve the hospitals that are its members, and what the hospitals need to do to make sure patients receive the best care possible.
Fifty-three individuals attended the June 23rd Consensus Conference. The participants included representatives of hospitals that are members of PHA, as well as representatives of nursing, hospital accreditation and other groups. The process of developing the business plan resulted in the design of a resource manual for use by PHA members that describes the international environment for medical tourism and how hospitals in Jordan should approach opportunities to increase their medical tourism services.
