Plastics Color Corporation Expands Into California
Date:5/9/2010

Plastics Color Corporation (PCC), a leader in the production of color concentrates and additive masterbatches for the plastics industry, announced plans today to open a new clean compounding facility in Sun Valley, California. The plant is designed to handle PCC's growing customer demand from the food packaging, medical device and supply, and pharmaceutical industries.

(PRWEB) May 9, 2010 -- Plastics Color Corporation (PCC), a leading supplier of color concentrates and additive masterbatches for the plastics industry, today announced plans to open a fourth plant. The new plant, to be located in the Southern California community of Sun Valley, will be modeled after Plastics Colors’ successful “Plant Within a Plant” concept of segregated clean compounding, currently operating at Plastics Color’s Asheboro, North Carolina campus. Plastics Color also operates plants in Calumet City, Ill. and Nanjing, China.

“The Plant Within a Plant concept, developed by PCC last year, is a separate, self contained operation that allows us to apply and evaluate the most advanced manufacturing techniques, including just-in-time
production, under actual conditions,” said PCC President Doug Borgsdorf. “It relies on minimal human intervention to ensure the least chance of material contamination.”

The new PCC plant, scheduled to open this fall, is being built from the ground up specifically to handle increased business from food processing, medical device, medical packaging and pharmaceutical businesses. The 30,000 square-foot Sun Valley plant will initially employ 14 and will also warehouse PCC’s black and white products for quick delivery. “The current demand we have for clean compounding and our market research indicate that this type of production is where our major opportunities are,” said VP of Sales and Marketing Joe Byrne. &ldquo
